The Wales family has to be the most talked-about in the world, but while the Prince and Princess spend the most time in front of the cameras, it is their children that really steal the limelight.
From Princess Charlotte’s signature sass (that comeback at her younger brother's christening!) and Prince George’s upcoming role in the coronation of his grandfather King Charles III, to Prince Louis making meme after meme at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee concert, these miniature royals are all anyone can talk about.
With the Wales children typically staying out of the spotlight, they make the most news on their birthdays, with their parents traditionally releasing an official portrait of them to the public on their behalf.
This was no exception this week as the Prince and Princess of Wales released sweet snaps of their daughter, Princess Charlotte, to mark her eighth birthday.
While traditionally these royal family portraits have been taken by an official royal photographer, the Princess of Wales, a lover of photography, opts to take her children's official photographs herself instead of hiring someone in.
The Wales family birthday portraits have been praised for their natural touch, with the children at ease with the camera - something that will definitely be to do with the fact that it's their mother behind the lens.
It has also been revealed that releasing the official photographs is in the family's best interest, with Kate and William reportedly having an understanding with the British media that lets them share portraits of these special moments in exchange for general privacy for their children day to day.
"Nothing is a given," royal commentator Victoria Arbiter told Cosmopolitan. "But in terms of managing to keep a good relationship with the British media, it’s in William and Kate’s interest to release photos."
Well that's that.
Is there anything Kate Middleton can't do?
