‘There’s a chance’ Rams will get Coleman Shelton back this week

The Rams are starting to get healthy again, seeing the likes of Brian Allen, Van Jefferson and Troy Hill return in the last two weeks. They could get another key starter back in Week 10, too.

Sean McVay said on the “Coach McVay Show” Monday night that “there’s a chance” Coleman Shelton will return from his high ankle sprain this week against the Cardinals. Shelton suffered the injury in Week 4 and was given a return timeline of 4-6 weeks.

He’s been on injured reserve, so the Rams would need to activate him in order for him to play. He has not yet been designated to return to practice.

“There’s a chance that you get Coleman Shelton back this week, which would be big,” McVay said. “Really important. I thought he’s really played well with the opportunities he’s had this year. So if we are able to get him back, that would provide a boost to the offensive line.”

Shelton was the Rams’ starting right guard to begin the season, but he filled in at center when Allen injured his knee. If he does return, he would likely take back his spot at right guard, which could move Chandler Brewer or Oday Aboushi to left guard.

McVay told reporters Monday that it’s “a possibility” the Rams will make a change on the interior of their line on the left side. In other words, they could bench the struggling Bobby Evans.
