Theo Walcott and Jacob Murphy agree on Arsenal amid surprise Man City claim

Newcastle United star Jacob Murphy and Southampton forward Theo Walcott have now been named Arsenal as the best team in the Premier League.

The north Londoners have failed to win each of their last three matches, drawing 2-2 against Liverpool and West Ham United before a 3-3 stalemate with the Saints on Friday evening. After the full-time whistle at the Emirates Stadium, former Gunners attacker Walcott admitted that he wants to see his old side beat Manchester City on Wednesday evening whilst claiming that Mikel Arteta's side are superior to the reigning champions.

“Hopefully, Arsenal can go win the league and beat City on Wednesday", Walcott said when assessing Arsenal's title chances. "We have to take positives from today, of course, because the team that stuck together in really difficult moments and Arsenal are just incredible.

“For me, when they played City the other week, I thought Arsenal were way better than them - that's how I see them at the moment.” Newcastle winger Murphy has previously echoed Walcott's sentiment regarding the Gunners.

When asked to name the toughest team he has faced this term, Murphy told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel: "As a team: Arsenal.

"I think Arteta has done a brilliant job, he has made some really clever signings in the summer as well. Technically, I think they’re superior to a lot of teams, but tactically, it’s hard to get anywhere near them, it’s hard to lock down their shape."
