If you’re a fan of The Young and the Restless, then you know Victor (Eric Braeden) is a far cry from being Cupid. In fact, he’s interfered in more relationships than we care to count, especially as it pertains to his children. Although if we were to count, we’d start with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) as Victor has helped destroy her relationships with Billy (Jason Thompson), J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) and Nate (Sean Hastings), just to name a few.
Speaking of Victoria, it now looks as if Victor may set his sights on interfering in the love life of her new daughter Claire (Hayley Erin). Although Clarie is technically single, a romance has been brewing between her and Kyle (Michael Mealor) for months, and Victor seemed to take notice of that in The Young and the Restless episode airing on July 5.
In the episode, Victor wraps a conversation with Kyle at Society and walks toward the door. As he does, he runs into Claire and asks his granddaughter what she’s doing out so late, to which Claire replies she’s just picking up takeout. When the duo part ways, Victor stands outside of Society and peeks through the window as Kyle and Claire laugh and talk. The Mustache gets that concerned look on his face, before walking off. Take a look at the clip below.

Fans of the #Kylair pairing should be worried. Victor didn’t exactly look thrilled that Kyle has taken an interest in his granddaughter, and this time, we can kind of understand why.
For starters, Kyle is Summer’s (Allison Lanier) ex-husband, and Victor likely doesn’t want to see his loved ones again fighting over a potential mate. Victor has already witnessed Adam (Mark Grossman) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) go at it over the years over Sharon (Sharon Case), Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Sally (Courtney Hope), so he probably doesn’t want to see strife between his granddaughters (well, more strife). Although Summer may be with Chance (Conner Floyd) these days, we think she’d quickly become jealous if she found out her cousin was to date her ex.
Victor also probably wants Kyle focused and not spending time on love. The Newman Enterprises founder really wants Glissade up and running to be a competitor of Jabot. Well not just a competitor, but he wants Glissade to be the reason Jabot topples. Given Victor appointed Kyle as co-CEO of the new company, he likely wants Kyle to be razor-sharp in executing his vision.
With all that being said, we can imagine Victor confronting Kyle and demanding that the Abbott heir not pursue anything with his granddaughter. Kyle may argue that nothing romantic is going on and that he and Claire are only friends, and Claire is just Harrison’s (Redding Munsell) nanny. However, Victor could insist that Kyle makes sure nothing happens, and warn him that his job may be at stake if it does.
If Claire is like her mother though, even if Kyle were to back off, Claire will find a way to keep Kyle’s attention. That could even lead to them sneaking around for a while. But since nothing in Genoa City remains a secret for long, if Victor discovers Kyle and Claire are dating behind his back, you better believe there will be repercussions.
New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.
