Nintendo released a new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 story expansion and announced a release date that’s sooner than we thought. While most fans expected the RPG‘s DLC to release in summer 2023 or later, it’s set to launch on April 25, 2023, for Nintendo Switch.
The final piece of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC, officially called Future Redeemed, acts as a prequel to the main game, and the trailer includes a few spoilers for what happens in the back half of Xenoblade 3 as well. You might want to hold off watching it if you haven’t finished the base game yet.
Nintendo is keeping story details at a minimum for now, but the expansion is supposed to tie all three numbered Xenoblade games together.
Future Redeemed introduces a new cast of characters and sees some familiar faces return with a rugged new style. Shulk and Rex, protagonists of Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, respectively, make an appearance, along with Alvis, who plays a pivotal role in the first game.
New to the scene are Matthew, a descendent of Noah and Mio; Nikol, a warrior from Keves who looks very much like a young Shulk; and Glimmer, an Agnian fighter sporting a rather Pyra-like hairdo and attitude.
There’s also A, Matthew’s partner who has connections to Moebius.
Each character brings their own class and skills to Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s battle system and can take advantage of a new mechanic called Unity Attack, where two characters can attack simultaneously.
Future Redeemed is part of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 expansion pass and can’t be purchased separately. The other three waves of expansion pass content include new heroes and an arena battle mode.
