The West Country beach that's a 'gateway to heaven' with crystal clear sea, caves and golden sands

While beaches can become overrun with tourists during the summer months, there are still a number of hidden gems dotted around the West Country.

Most of these secret gems the locals would like to hide from the masses, but some do get shared on social media. Cornwall’s Bossiney Cove has made it onto TikTok, and fans cannot believe the spot is in England.

It's located just along from the famous village of Tintagel, and is a cove hidden between breathtaking high cliffs. It boasts a 'crystal clear sea', a waterfall, and has been hailed as the 'best beach ever'.

Home to an incredible cave to explore that is 60 feet high at the entrance but only 15–20 feet wide, there are lots to do at this location. But be warned during high tides you won’t be able to find the beach. But if you time it right, you'll be treated to golden sands and lovely waves to paddle in.

Sharing the spot on TikTok, Nathaliasyam said: "This hidden gem in UK." The video, with the caption 'Gateway to heaven' then showed an impressive medieval wooden door leading to steep steps.

Amassing thousands of likes, people were very keen to know how to get there. One person wrote: "Wow, amazing".

Another penned: "My favourite place", while a third wrote: "England is amazing".

Google reviewers were equally impressed giving the location a near-perfect 4.8 stars. One person wrote: "Been here before on foot. This time we arrived to an empty beach arrived in the crystal clear waters near high tide. Shallow sandy beach. Ideal for swimming and relaxing when not busy.

"Even though access on foot is down a steep cliff walk, everyone seems to take their rubbish away with them. It was very clean on our visit."

Another wrote: "By far the best beach I have ever been to. Absolutely beautiful views. Crystal clear waters, and really calm water too. We all went for a full on swim. Lots of little caves to explore and wasn't too busy even at peak times. Only downside is it is a long walk to access the beach (with little ones), and can be dangerously steep in some places. Not for those with any mobility issues."

A third penned: "Such a lovely little Cove, stunning outlook to sea. Rugged rocks & cliffs. A pretty waterfall. Narrow walkway down."
