Mar. 9: Sci-tech bond rules take effect

A circular issued by the National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors to optimize sci-tech innovation bonds comes into effect. The rules aim to channel more financial resources into early-stage, small-scale, long-term, and hard-tech ventures, supporting a financial system tailored to technological innovation.

March 9: Portugal’s new president takes office

Portugal’s incumbent President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will see his second term end on March 9, when the country’s newly elected president is expected to be sworn in. In early February, António Seguro, the candidate of the center-left Socialist Party, was elected as Portugal’s next president.

Mar. 11: CPPCC concludes annual session

The fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top political advisory body, will conclude its seven-day annual meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

March 11: Chile’s President‑Elect José Antonio Kast takes office

Kast will be sworn in on March 11, taking office as the country faces major economic challenges including sluggish growth, deteriorating public finances and a weak labor market. In the second round of the presidential election held in December, Kast — the candidate of the far‑right Republican Party of Chile — defeated Janet Jara, the candidate representing the left‑wing ruling coalition, to become the country’s next president.

Mar. 12: National People’s Congress wraps up

The 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s top legislature, will close its eight-day annual legislative session in Beijing.

Mar. 12-15: Appliance and Electronics World Expo opens

The Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE) will be held in Shanghai, featuring a dual-venue layout for the first time. The event will take place concurrently at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and the newly established Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone.

Mar. 14: Shanghai hosts global investment conference

The 2026 Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference begins, attracting nearly 500 domestic and foreign companies. The event will roll out new empowerment platforms, secure major investment projects, and promote key land plots to showcase the city’s industrial advantages.

March 15: Oscars ceremony to be held in Hollywood

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be broadcast live by ABC to more than 200 countries and regions worldwide. Comedian, writer and producer Conan O’Brien will host the ceremony, joined by an Emmy Award–winning production team that includes Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan.

Mar. 16-19: Nvidia holds annual GTC conference

Nvidia Corp. will host its GTC event in San Jose, California, focusing on artificial intelligence and next-generation AI infrastructure. The tech giant is expected to unveil its Feynman GPU architecture and Rubin GPUs, as well as showcase its Vera Rubin products equipped with Samsung’s HBM4 memory for the first time.
