The Wanted's Tom Parker asks fans to 'light a candle & pray for me' amid cancer battle

Tom Parker, 33, called for his fans to "light a candle and say a prayer" for him on Wednesday.

The Wanted singer explained to his 267,000 followers on Instagram how the date, 2nd February 2022, was "a powerful day to manifest" and heal.

Tom - who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2020 - went on to share an affirmation that included the line: "May my body return to health and completely free from dis-ease."

The dad-of-two uploaded a sweet snap of himself and wife Kelsey Hardwick to accompany the positive post on social media.

"Calling all my amazing followers [multiple star emojis]," Tom began in the caption on Wednesday.

He continued: "It’s a new moon and supreme number 02.02.22 [star emoji] it’s a powerful day to manifest with the universe.

"So let’s all heal together."

Tom - who has a daughter Aurelia, two, and son Bodhi, 11 months - was initially told he had a grade four glioblastoma and was given a life expectancy of 12 to 18 months.

Thankfully, after six rounds of chemotherapy and 30 radiotherapy sessions, the star's condition has improved and he and his family have a positive outlook about things.

In his Instagram post on Wednesday, the Glad You Came singer continued with his optimistic attitude and shared a declaration for his followers to repeat.

"At 6pm I would love everyone to light a candle and say this out loud," Tom explained.

" 'I let go of what no longer serves me for the highest good and in divine order. all that I am and all that I will ever be!

"May I be strong. May my body return to health and completely free from dis-ease.

"I call on angels, guides and ancestors to help support Me in this healing journey and please awaken my heart and mind to give me the power, strength and healing that I need on this journey to complete health. [praying hands emoji]."

He concluded: "May my family be adorned with the love and strength that they need to enable them to support me too.

Tom opened up about his illness in a documentary last year (Channel 4)

"I am supporting myself with love and light! And surrounding myself with joy and positivity."

Hundreds of fans and famous faces commented on the motivational post, with Laura White writing: "Will light my candle tonight Tommy and do it with you."

Speaking about his illness last October, Tom expressed a goal to be cancer free by March.

"You’ll always be classed as terminal," the star said during his TV documentary Inside My Head.

"They give you 12 to 18months of survival. But that’s the general statistics. Everyone we’ve spoken to has been way, way beyond that.

"Now, we’re aiming to be cancer free by March. That’s the aim. This disease is always there.

"You might have residual cells but just not active. So, we’ll just carry on, just crack on and see where we get to.
