Hot pink nails are making a comeback for summer - here's how to wear the juicy hue

A collage of hot pink nail designs: on the left is a close-up of a hand with a bright pink manicure, created by nail artist Julia Diogo (@paintedbyjools). While pink is always a timeless manicure option, this season is making way for a particularly vibrant iteration that boasts similarities to your favourite fruity sorbets and tropical cocktails: hot pink nails.

Much like bright red, a shock of fuchsia feels very apt for your summer nails, especially if you're jetting off on holiday and are perhaps feeling fatigued with all the sheer, barely-there looks that we've been seeing so much of lately. Thankfully, the 2026 nail trends, whilst still featuring these pared-back manicures, are now also brimming with plenty of sunny shades. Juicy sorbet nails and radiant sunset hues are just a few of the looks we've been seeing, and they all seem to have this same bold pink shade in common.

So, if you want a nail colour that ticks an array of trends, as well as being a classic summer shade, here's why you should consider hot pink nails - especially if you prefer shorter nails and want to achieve a salon-worthy look at home, with minimal fuss.

Why we're adding hot pink nails to our summer manicure rotation

As the name suggests, its feminine and energetic nature makes it a go-to option for a summer-ready look, whether you have an upcoming occasion, heading off on holiday or you’re simply looking to inject some colour into your talons.

Despite its standout look, though, you can easily tailor this colour to suit your particular manicure style - whether that be a minimalist and trendy colourful French tip to statement block colour square nails.

Plus, unlike a sheer or milky nail look, which can take copious coats to perfect (if you're using an air-drying polish), especially if your nails aren't in the best condition, a pigmented shade, like hot pink, delivers an even, opaque look in just a coat or two. And it can be made to look almost like gel, with a good quality top coat.

How to recreate hot pink nails at home

RRP: £10.99

For those wanting a true hot pink shade, Essie's nail polish in shade 'Pinky Ring' is the go-to option. Offering up to 15 days of wear time, this nail polish boasts a chip-resistant formula with a gel-like finish - without the need of a UV lamp.

RRP: £14.90

For a very juicy option, this deliciously named OPI nail polish needs to be on your radar. It's bright and ultra-shiny, ideal for a quick summer manicure or pedicure at home.

RRP: £3.99

For those wanting to take a more sophisticated approach, this fuchsia shade with a berry-esque undertone is a perfect option. This budget-friendly choice offers a quick-drying formula, that lasts up to 10 days and leaves a high-shine finish.

To elevate this bold look, we recommend investing in a glossy top coat, as well as a bright strawberry or fuchsia shade. A clear polish, like essie's Gel Couture top coat, will not only help to protect your manicure from chipping, but also add a luxe, salon-worthy shine. A good-quality cuticle oil, like this L'Occitane Shea Nail & Cuticle Oil, is also a must-have in your kit to hydrate your nails and aid repair and growth.

6 ways to wear hot pink nails

If you require some visual inspiration for how to adopt the trend into your next manicure (or to show your nail tech at your upcoming mani appointment), we've put together six ways to wear hot pink nails this summer...

1. Short hot pink nails

For those who wanting a pared-back and minimalist approach to the trend, short nails go hand-in-hand with bold summery colours, such as this one.

2. Hot pink French tip nails

The colourful French tips trend certainly isn't going anywhere anytime soon and for how vibrant this shade is, it is a great way to subtly dip your toe into the trend. For those recreating this look at home, we'd recommend investing in a French tip stamp - such as Nail HQ's French Manicure Nail Stamper.

3. Neon pink nails

4. Hot pink jelly nails

If you're a fan of more sheer, tinted looks, you can find buildable polishes - like Manucurist's new Jelly polishes - that afford a customisable look. One coat will give a translucent, glassy look, while three will deliver a more opaque and ultra-juicy finish.

5. Raspberry-pink nails

With slight red undertones, this chic raspberry hue is a more subtle and sophisticated approach to the classic hot pink shades that we're all well acquainted with.

If you're a nail art lover, this simple yet effective ombré aura design works effortlessly with a hot pink shade. In order to complete this mani, a nail art sponge tool is essential - we'd recommend this Mylee Dual Ended Sponge Applicator.
