A very unique ‘house on stilts’ with wonderful views of the mid-Wales countryside has just been sold. The detached three-bedroom property overlooks the village of Llandre, near Aberystwyth, in Ceredigion.
Allt Y Coed is a partially stilt-supported house and has been described as “a gem” with “awesome views”. The unique house is in a rural position approximately 15 minutes away by car from Aberystwyth, and is seen as an ideal project for someone looking to renovate.
The ground floor to the house has an entrance hallway, one bedroom and a utility and shower room, while the first floor boasts a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a landing, bathroom and access to an attic. Outside the property there is a good-sized garden and driveway and a balcony offering glorious views. The house was listed with a guide price of £190,000, but ended up selling for £205,000 at auction after interested parties tried to out-bid each other over two days. Gemma Vaughan, of Paul Fosh Auctions, said: “The property itself is a gem and the awesome views just added to its sparkle. Although the individually-designed house does require some renovation work to bring it up to date this didn’t appear to deter the bidders who’d set their sights on landing the house and views.
“After renovations are completed this property will make a gorgeous family home. It has a stunning rural location with some of the best views you’re likely to find anywhere in the area. The university town of Aberystwyth with all its facilities and eclectic range of intriguing independent shops, the historic seafront with the oldest pier in Wales, is just 15 minutes away.
"There was quite some interest in the property ahead of the sale which translated to two firm bidders competing to win the lot during the two days of the online auction."
