The unexpected Latitude Festival moment Marcus Brigstocke will never forget

Comedian Marcus Brigstocke, who has performed at almost every Latitude Festival since it began in 2006, has recalled organising a spontaneous tribute to Prince at the festival following the singer's death in 2016.

Brigstocke dressed as Prince and led the audience through "Let's Go Crazy," with his children operating the smoke machines and confetti cannons.

He tells The Independent that by the closing performance of "Purple Rain," "everyone was doing the phone lights, and people were crying."

Brigstocke performs at the TK Maxx Comedy Arena at Latitude Festival 2026, taking place 23–26 July at Henham Park, Suffolk. Tickets are available at latitudefestival.com.
