The UK’s top-selling book and bestselling author for 2025 revealed

  • Overall non-fiction spending declined by five per cent to its lowest point since 2014, contrasting with a five per cent increase in adult fiction sales.
  • The total UK print book market saw a marginal 0.5 per cent dip, settling at £1.81 billion, though the average cost of a book rose by two per cent to a record £9.52.
  • Audiobook sales increased by six per cent, with sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and graphic novels also showing strong growth.
  • Richard Osman's The Impossible Fortune was the top-selling book, and Julia Donaldson was the UK's bestselling author in 2025.
