The Traitors' fans react to episode eight and the banishment of a major player

Just when we thought The Traitors couldn't get any more dramatic, the latest murder tops it all off. Following an explosive episode on Wednesday, when Miles handed Diane the poisoned chalice, ending her journey, viewers tuned in on Thursday night ready for another 60 minutes of drama.

At the start of the latest episode, it was revealed who Paul and Harry had decided to recruit. Insurance broker Andrew Jenkins was invited to join them as a traitor, and accepted as he feared being murdered if he didn't.

Tensions continued to build throughout the episode, until the much anticipated (or dreaded) round table when it was Harry's turn to betray Paul, his fellow traitor.

“You’re the biggest personality outside the room and, as soon as it comes to the round table, you’ve been quiet, until it’s been a traitor,” Harry told Paul, who looked visibly shocked.

Harry continued to reel off a list of points that point to Paul being guilty. Managing to successfully influence the group, Paul later received the most votes and became the latest to be banished from the hit BBC show.

On Friday, Paul Gorton revealed he made a huge “fumble” following his banishment.

“I feel like I got to a point where I was done,” he said.

“I knew I was being called out and I knew that it was the right time for me to go. I felt like it was a great full stop and it’s the end of my show. I know it was because of the fumble that we made with the dungeon – I knew I was on borrowed time at that point.

“Every day after that was a bonus to me. Would I have done anything differently? I wouldn’t have put myself in the dungeon, put it that way!," he added.

Soon after the explosive episode aired, The Traitors fans took to X to share their thoughts... with memes such as these, about Harry going head to head with Paul.

And one viewer clapped so hard, their concerned Apple Watch thought they had fallen over and needed an emergency call.

And Jaz's savviness after being the first to question Paul.

But some viewers questioned why Jaz wasn't getting the same credit as Harry for suspecting Paul as a traitor.

And more hilarious commentary that reminded us about the beauty of live TV.
