Claudia Winkleman dropped character to comfort Wilfred Webster during the latest episode of The Traitors. The nail-biting BBC game saw Wilfred turn on his fellow co-conspirator Amanda Lovett and ultimately banished her from the game.
After planting seeds at the roundtable, Wilfred then had the casting vote and chose to betray his only ally, sealing the deal for her elimination. Speaking to cameras after her exit, Amanda said: "I knew Wilf would throw me under the bus. He's avoided me all day, he hasn't come near me."
Later, Wilfred was joined by presenter Claudia Winkleman in the castle turret, who said: "Wil, and then there was one, you've taken out both your fellow traitors and you are the last one standing. Why did you decide to banish Amanda?"

He replied "I don't trust her. I just kept thinking and thinking that I haven't built any relationship with her."
Wilfred then broke down in tears, forcing the host to break character and and comfort him. "It's okay," she said. "Come on."
Pulling him in for a hug, she added: "Listen to me, Wil, you're playing a blinder. You've come in here, right, to win the money. I know you feel heartbroken, but you are smashing it, Wil."
Speaking to the cameras, Wil said: "I feel really bad and now I'm by myself and I feel rubbish." However, as always, there was another major twist with Claudia explaining: "I imagine it's really lonely being the only traitor so you have the last chance to recruit."
Claudia then revealed Wilfred would have to choose a faithful to join him and have a secret face-to-face meeting with them. She continued: "You'll give them an ultimatum. Either join you and become a traitor or get murdered. If they choose to join you as a traitor, then you will come back to this turret and murder as usual."
Wilfred picked Kieran but his decision is yet to air after the episode ended on a cliffhanger. The Traitors returns at 9pm on Wednesday, December 21 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
