The tragic cases of 3 people found dead in Notts who have never been identified

Three people who were found dead in Nottinghamshire have never been identified, with some dating back to the 80s. The individuals are yet to be named years after they were found dead in the county.

The deaths, which date back four decades, remain unsolved despite police investigations. As they have never been identified, officers were unable to contact loved ones, so these people now tragically lie in unmarked graves.

The cases are listed on the UK Missing Persons Bureau, which is a national database of unidentified bodies. It records details handed out by police forces of bodies or remains not identified, which we have compiled below.

Body discovered in River Trent

This man, who police believe was 40 to 55-years-old and of White European ethnicity, was found on April 21, 1981 in The River Trent at Averham, Newark. When found he was partially decomposed and had been in the water for at least four weeks, but is believed to have been of stocky build and clean shaven.

His hair and eye colour are unknown, with police stating his distinguishing features were missing false teeth. He was wearing a crewneck maroon Jumper with elbow and shoulder patches, a blue t-shirt, blue underwear, blue Levi jeans, blue socks, and black slip-on shoes.

With him he had £31.97 in cash, a white pen knife, a Yale key numbered '1A', a small suitcase key numbered 30, and a Yale key inscribed 'Dominion Montreal Canada D.L.' If you think you know this person you can contact the Missing Persons Unit here.

Body found in rural area inside caravan

This man was believed to have been between 23 and 57 years old when he died, with his body being found in a caravan in Beckingham, Bassetlaw, on March 13, 2014.

He is believed to have died no more than four months before being found in the rural area. Police said he was of Dark European ethnicity, medium build, and was 5ft 8in - 5ft 10in.

He had extensive dental work done and had dark collar length hair. He was wearing trainers, a denim jacket, another black jacket underneath, a blue Umbro tracksuit, a grey Slazenger t-shirt and jeans.

Body found in the River Trent

This man, who was believed to have been a White European and aged between 50 to 60-years-old, was found on July 15, 1987, in the River Trent in Cottam. He was discovered floating in the river, having possibly been in there for several weeks.

Police said he was 5ft 10in and of stocky build. His hair was fair but greying and he had stubble, while his eye colour is unknown.

He was wearing no clothing at the time, but police said he may have been wearing swimming trunks. If you think you know this person you can contact the Missing Persons Unit here.
