The Tory MPs whose seats are at risk this general election

A number of well-known ministers may find it difficult to hold onto their positions in Parliament after Rishi Sunak has called for a general election in July.

According to reports, Tory election strategists threatened to remove MPs from their constituencies if their party received a majority of less than 15,000 votes. However, some have speculated that this allegation was manufactured to control expectations.

While voters will have a decision to vote between Conservative leader Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer at the ballot box, they also have to select local MPs.

There are several big names at risk if the rumours is true. Here is the full list of Tories at risk of losing their job.

In the newly created Godalming and Ash constituency, which includes portions of Jeremy Hunt's present South West Surrey seat, Mr Hunt, who has been in the cabinet nearly continuously since 2010, is defending a majority of 8,817 votes.

With such a large margin, the incumbent would normally be safe, but Mr Hunt, the former health secretary, will have to work hard to hold onto the "blue wall" seat given the magnitude of the swing away from the Tories.

According to YouGov, the Liberal Democrats are expected to unseat him.
