The top 10 best cafes for a fry up in Nottingham according to Google reviews

A fry up is a staple in our diets and considered a vital part of British culture. From a greasy spoon caff to vegan restaurants, all have a go at creating their own fry up.

Some may serve them only at breakfasts, others take the delicacy right through the day with an all-day brunch on their menu. We have taken to Google to see which cafes across Nottingham are ranked the best at serving the fry up.

Hungry Pumpkin

The Lace Market-based family run café in High Pavement takes top spot for fry ups in Nottingham. With a ranking of 4.8 stars on Google Reviews, the locally sourced food clearly hits the spot for many. Joanne Smalley-Lowe visited the small restaurant and gave them a five star review.

She posted: "Decided to try this place after learning that it is no.1 for breakfast in Nottingham. It’s a little bit out of the way but well worth the effort. Very small, very busy but excellent service, friendly staff and great food. The cappuccino was the best I have had in a long time. Lovely."

Tuckers

Suitably situated in Friar Lane, Tuckers has been praised for its "fried food at great prices". The café is only open on weekdays but that has not put people off ranking it 4.8 stars out of five. Howard Parkin wrote: "Good food at reasonable prices. You should go there you'll not be disappointed. I promise you."

The Crocus Café

The volunteer-led vegetarian and vegan community café offers healthy and affordable food that is organic, Fairtrade and locally-sourced where possible. They have received 4.7 stars on Google Reviews with one customer saying: "Amazing food! We had a vegan breakfast, it was so tasty! The tofu scramble was the best we've had. Really friendly staff and generally nice atmosphere."

The café is in Lenton Boulevard and offers dine in and take out. Any profit that is made goes back into promoting their ethos and supporting local community projects.

Fox Café

The small city centre café in Pelham Street has been labelled the "best fry up in the city" by one reviewer. It has been given 4.6 stars by reviewers and is open seven days a week. Gareth Jenkins said: "Fabulous place to have breakfast. Nice size portions, reasonably priced, real coffee and great service from staff. It does get very busy so may be an idea to reserve a spot."

They offer vegetarian, vegan, meat and gluten-free options with a range of dishes on offer throughout the day. Fox Café also has a small outside eating area at the front.

Café Sobar

The alcohol free bar in the centre of Nottingham in Friar Lane offers a selection of breakfasts including a vegetarian option. They offer a 'BIG breakfast' made up of two rashers of bacon, two sausages, hash browns, two fried eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, tomato, black pudding and two slices of toast all for £9.99.

Ranking at 4.6 stars out of five, they also serve breakfast muffins and cobs. The innovative bar acts as a safe space for those in alcohol recovery and has also been praised for the breakfast offerings. Ale Van wrote: "One of the best establishments I have been especially for the working philosophy applied that you will understand by visiting. Had a very nice full English and the staff were friendly, real and professional . Would give them 6 stars." Jack Delaney added: "Yummy food and a great array of sauces. All for a good cause to boot."

Cartwheel Café and Roastery

Taking a slightly different approach to the traditional fry up, Cartwheel Café offer a selection of breakfast items which have given them the 4.6 star rating. Customer Djalal Tebib posted: "A cosy and modish café with a variety of brew options. I have been there a few times for both coffee and brunch. And my experiences had been very satisfying and unforgettable. The staff are very polite and talented. It’s truly worth a visit."

They offer a wide range of coffee which is roasted in Sneinton and breakfast including smashed avocado and eggs and pancakes. Another reviewer said: "Friendly service, good coffee, wide breakfast/brunch selection."

Warsaw Diner

The American breakfast diner has been named the "best breakfast in Nottingham by far" by one reviewer. They have been given a 4.6 star ranking and offer American-style breakfasts with its signature hash browns.

The diner is located in Derby Road and is open every day 9am-2pm, except from Mondays. One person commented: "It's just so good. Staff are really friendly, food is amazing and they have so many options to cater for everyone. Best Notts breakfast." While another said: "Best breakfast I have had in years."

Tracey's Café

Another 4.6 star café is Tracey's in Victoria Centre which serves all the traditional meals. Joe Garner posted: "I don’t live in Nottingham or the UK anymore but I always come here for a proper full English when I’m back. £4.50 for a mega breakfast which has everything that you want on it. Bacon, sausage, egg, beans, tinned tomatoes, toast, tea or coffee included.

"No nonsense like hash browns since this is an English breakfast and not an American one. Very tasty and very cheap too. A very popular breakfast place in Nottingham although it’s tucked away in the Victoria Centre Market so it may be hard to find for some people."

The Avenues Café

Avenues Café just by Sneinton Market has been praised for the wide range of meat, vegetarian and vegan options. They have been given 4.6 stars out of five by Google reviewers with one person saying: "Great place for a fry and good value."

Meng Li Leong said: "Great breakfast. Good quality and cheap price. Service was great with friendly staff. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice sit down even with the family as well." Whilst another reviewer called the café, which is open all week, a "true little gem".

GB Café and Restaurant

Next door to the Avenues Café, GB Café and Restaurant also serves up a great fry up, according to reviews. They are open every day except Sunday and serve generous helpings of traditional English breakfast. Maksim Zmitrovich commented: "Perfect place. I truly enjoyed my breakfast there. Portions are nice and big - it can feed a giant!

"Variety in menu can satisfy any picky eater. Staff are very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. Prices are very sensible. Overall, good experience all-around." Whilst another added: "Best Breakfast around can’t be beaten and the variety on the menu is great" They have been rated 4.4 stars out of 5.
