Arsenal's Premier League title charge has been massively derailed in recent weeks.
Mikel Arteta's side had been eight points clear at the top of the table not too long ago but the north Londoners are now winless in four, with Manchester City climbing above them in the current standings despite having a game in hand on their title rivals. Barring a huge miracle, the Gunners are now seemingly resigned to finish second this term, something that is still an achievement in itself considering they haven't qualified for the UEFA Champions League in six years.
This summer is the time to build on that, time for Sporting Director Edu Gaspar to add some level raisers to a hugely talented young squad that will no doubt come back hungry next season, keen to bring the first league title to north London since Arsene Wenger's Invincibles' team back in 2004. West Ham United captain Declan Rice remains the priority for the summer transfer window, football.london understands as Arteta looks to bolster his midfield options.
