The Swell Season at Vicar Street: How to get there, set lists and show times

The Swell Season are coming to Vicar Street in Dublin City centre this summer for two sold out gigs. The talented duo will play the venue on July 13 and 14.

Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard have released music together for the first time in 10 years, having recently unveiled new song, The Answer is Yes. The pair are probably best known for Falling Slowly, which scooped the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2008.

The Swell Season became the group's musical namesake in the wake of the movie’s success. Irglová said: “Glen and I had been talking about releasing new music prior to our upcoming Dublin dates and US tour.

"I wanted to write a beautiful duet for us to sing together each night. Something that felt right for the time and place; deeply personal and yet widely universal. Something that summarised our journey through the past 20 years, paying tribute to all that once was and celebrating all that now is.”

The talented duo are expected to play a mixture of their new music that they have created since reconnecting in recent years as well as their classics such as Falling Slowly. Getting there

Vicar Street is located on Thomas Street in The Liberties, Dublin 8. The main Dublin Bus routes that can get you to Vicar Street include the 13 and the 123 where the venue is less than a minutes walk away. The nearest Luas stop to the venue is The Four Courts and then a ten minute walk to Vicar Street.

Stage times

On both nights the doors will open at 6:30pm and The Swell Season will come on stage at 8pm. There is a full bar in operation at the venue that will be open before the show.

Drinks are available to buy at the bar but they must be consumed there as no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the auditorium. All drinks are provided in plastic cups for safety reasons.

Tickets were sold on Ticketmaster but they are unfortunately completely sold out for both gigs.
