The super-luxurious gym where footballers and celebrities work out named best in the UK

A luxurious "super-gym" loved by footballers and celebrities has been named the best in the UK. CPASE, nestled in the heart of Cheshire's footballer-belt, is known for its hi-tech sports equipment, cryogenic chambers and indoor swimming pool and saunas.

Celebrities and footballers are known to frequent the luxurious health space, where full, "access-all-areas" memberships cost £295 a month. Before his swift departure from Man United last year footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and wife Georgina were regulars and often shared photos on social media using the facilities.

The club, in the village of Mobberley, is now celebrating winning two titles at the National Fitness Awards. It has been crowned Health Club of the Year and Boutique Facility of the Year.

CPASE, also known as "Clare's Space", first opened in October 2020 and is the brainchild of fitness guru Clare Stobart. She dreamed of creating the perfect gym space - after spending years researching the world's best gyms and heading to the biggest fitness conventions.

The result is the super-exclusive health club which includes state-of-the-art equipment, treatment rooms, and a dazzling pool where you can swim, relax and even have a glass of fizz after your workout or gym class. It also has it's own cafe, April's Kitchen, serving up freshly made health foods as well as a games room for relaxing with pals.

Even the locker rooms are extra luxurious - complete with Dyson hair dryers and straighteners to sort your hair out after a workout.

When you join up (with a £350 joining fee) you get your own state-of-the-art watch that you can use every time you use the gym to keep track of just how intense your different workouts are. Classes at the gym also include trapeze yoga, in a dedicated yoga studio on the site, as well as a range of Cyclo Skill Bike spin classes and high-intensity workouts.

Due to the range of equipment and the secluded location in Cheshire, the gym has attracted a wealth of famous faces. The Cryochamber is also popular with everyone from world champion boxers to rally drivers, who find the low-temperature therapy pod aids with recovery, as it is said to help muscles recover after high intensity workouts.

They've also just added a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy tank for use of members - where you gain numerous health benefits while relaxing and watching TV inside an exclusive two person luxury chamber.

It's said to be effective at treating a variety of conditions, and it involves wearing an oxygen mask and "breathing pure oxygen" throughout the duration of the session.

Also in the main gym space is a quirky step workout - where you can see just how many steps you need to walk up to do the equivalent of landmarks like Big Ben (186 steps), the Eiffel Tower (926 steps) or even to the top of Mount Everest (25,280 steps). The reward for dashing up the steps though, is that you can always use the large adult tube slide to get back down again.

The club has beaten off strong competition to be crowned Health Club of the Year and Boutique Facility of the Year at the National Fitness Awards, organised by Script Events and leading industry publication Workout. The awards are now in their 12th year and recognise excellence and achievement in all corners of the industry.

To scoop the trophy, the gym went through a rigorous assessment process. Reports were compiled and passed on to an expert judging panel, which included top personal trainer Mike Hind MBE and award winning gym owner Steve Johnson, who decided the winners in each category from a shortlist of up to eight.

National Fitness Awards’ director Dominic Musgrave said: "This year’s winners should be very very proud – the high standard of entries made it a tough job to select a final shortlist never mind a winner and runner-up in each category.

“Our awards’ night was a great celebration of the fitness industry as a whole and it was great to see so many gyms represented at the event. It was a wonderful evening and it was lovely to share in the celebrations of the winners.”

Owner Clare said she was delighted to win the award. She said: "This is a really amazing achievement for us.

"Our aim has always been to have everything here at the highest level and to be the best boutique health club in the UK. We believe we are Cheshire's most exclusive gym as we keep it capped at 800 members."

Awards were handed out in more than 20 categories at the glittering ceremony at The Athena in Leicester, attended by more than 750 people and hosted by former Gladiator Hunter, aka James Crossley.

Now Clare hopes to continue plans to expand and develop the gym at the site on Faulkner's Lane with a new private entrance from the lane and plans to create new fitness studios.
