Steven Gerrard's time in the dugout at Rangers and Aston Villa makes him a 'great shout' for the Leeds United job.
That is according to former Chelsea forward Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who has put Gerrard's failed stint at Villa Park in the rear-view mirror and is urging Leeds to remember he can handle the 'pressure' of a big role after his time in Glasgow. The Liverpool icon was heralded for stopping Celtic's ten-in-a-row plight but did manage only one trophy from a potential nine before being pinched by Villa in 2021.
What came was a horror run in the English Premier League with Gerrard given his marching orders in October and since the 42-year-old has been linked with the Polish national team job before the Elland Road side gave up-and-coming manager Jesse Marsch the boot last week.

And Hasselbaink says Gerrard falls in to the category of a 'safe bet' as he pointed to Sean Dyche's shrewd move to Everton as inspiration.
He told Casinos En Ligne: "The safest bet is someone that knows the Premier League. They have to come in and get Elland Road rocking again. Just look at what Sean Dyche did in his first game at Everton, who have now found a little sparkle. Hiring someone that knows the Premier League is the best solution.
“Steven Gerrard is a great shout. He knows the Premier League but he also knew what went wrong at Aston Villa. He’s a big personality and can handle the pressure of Leeds as a big club, having also managed at Rangers. I can see him managing Leeds.”
