A viral TikTok has revealed a breakfast hack that Starbucks employees don’t want you to know about.

The video, posted by @messydirtyhair, shows the barista unwrapping a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and using a pair of tongs to remove the cheese. She then heats up the sandwich and wraps it up for the customer.

The caption reads, “Did you know Starbucks can modify any breakfast sandwich for you?”

It now has over 1.2 million views.

The barista clarified that the customization options are limited, and that workers can only remove items from the sandwiches. The bread, meat, and cheese cannot be swapped.

She made several follow-up videos in response to comments from fellow Starbucks employees who left comments like, “Shhh we don’t need customers asking for this,” and “Why would you do this to us?” Others have complained that her TikTok will lead to customers creating even more work for baristas.

In one of the follow-up videos, @messydirtyhair responded to a comment that said, “No we can’t don’t tell them this,” by saying, “I still can’t believe baristas are fighting me in the comments. Now do your job!” The video shows the company’s computer system and proves that food items can be modified the same way as drinks with options like “extra toasted” and “no cheese.”

In another follow-up TikTok, @messydirtyhair addressed another comment from an unhappy barista by plainly stating, “I have one thing to say to baristas: why are you gonna work at Starbucks if you’re not gonna do the actual work?”

Many commenters were grateful that @messydirtyhair shared the information, explaining that it’s helpful for lactose intolerant guests or those with allergies.
