Queen Elizabeth II was the most travelled monarch in history. During her 70-year reign she visited more than 100 countries but as Her Majesty makes a final journey to London, we can say that she is returning home.
The Queen was born in Mayfair and later celebrated VE Day, in 1945, with crowds on the streets of the capital. Indeed, the key moments of her life — her wedding, her coronation and many of her key constitutional duties — all took place here.
