English Premier League clubs are set to lose a staggering combined fee of £48million with the new ruling that gambling sponsorships will be banished from the 2026/27 season.
The league produced a statement on Thursday confirming that gambling sponsors will no longer be allowed to be adorned on the front of shirts. This comes after mass appeal from counter-gambling groups, who have long yearned for the reduction of betting advertising in the biggest league in the world.
Many famous companies such as Dafabet - who currently sponsor Celtic - alongside Mansion, bet365, Fun88 and more have become synonymous with Premier League shirts in the past for their huge logos which ultimately have enticed fans to gamble with them; though that will be no more. A report by SportingPedia has analysed the deals that current Premier League teams have at their disposal, with eight of the 20 having gambling sponsors on the front of their shirts.
