The Six Nations Super Saturday results that will see Wales finish third and consign England to fifth

Wales v Italy may not be the glamour fixture of Six Nations Super Saturday but it will be decisive in determining how the Welsh campaign is ultimately judged.

While the title may have gone for Wales, there is the chance to finish a respectable third - something Wayne Pivac will be pleased with given the injury issues earlier in the tournament. There's also the added incentive of consigning England to fifth in the table for the second year running, an outcome that could cost Eddie Jones his job amid mounting pressure.

So, here's what needs to happen...

Wales enter Super Saturday in a lowly fifth position on six points after three defeats so far. England are currently third on 10 points, just above Scotland (also on 10) on points difference.

A Wales bonus point win over wooden spoonists Italy will take them to 11 points in the table. From there, if England lose in Paris and Scotland lose in Ireland, both without losing bonus points, Wayne Pivac's side will be third.

Things get a bit more complicated if England or Scotland do pick up a losing bonus point, as that would put the three teams on 11 points. It then comes down to points difference, with Wales currently a long way back at -27. England are +17 and Scotland are -8.

So, a big task for Wales to overturn a 44-point deficit but not necessarily insurmountable if they can finally get their attacking game going. Both England and Scotland could, of course, pick up two losing points by scoring four tries and losing by seven points or less. That scenario would take them to 12 and they would be out of Wales' reach.

As for the title, Ireland need to beat Scotland and hope France to slip up against England if they are to overtake them in the final.
