Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak are on course to be paired together in one of Eddie Howe's starting line-ups.
Howe is refusing to risk the Frenchman while £63million summer signing Alexander Isak is also being edged slowly back into the team after finally recovering from a longstanding thigh problem. It remains to be seen whether either player is in a position to start against Fulham on Sunday in the Premier League at St James' Park (2pm).
Former AFC Bournemouth manager Howe, who threw both players on as substitutes against Leicester, said: "Maxi is still feeling the effects of his illness, but he was well enough to take the field. I thought he did well when he came on against Leicester.
"We’re going to have to build up Alex slowly. The 45 minutes was great against Sheffield Wednesday, and v Leicester, he’s had a little taste again in front of the supporters, I thought he looked very sharp."
Saint-Maximin was again linked with a January move with Tottenham Hotspur touted as a possible destination in the last 24 hours. However, the Toon boss is simply looking to get Saint-Maximin back to fitness before making any major decisions on outgoing business.
