The Sentry 2025 Odds, Expert Picks, & Best Bets

The 2025 PGA Tour season will swing into action this week as the world’s best golfers take on the Plantation Course in Kapalua.

The Sentry features an intimate 60-player field filled with previous winners and golfers who finished the previous FedEx Cup season ranked in the top 50. With a $20 million purse on the line, including $3.6 million to the winner, most of the world’s top players will be in Hawaii to compete in the first tournament of the year.

There will be one notable exception, though. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will not be in action this week, which opens up the tournament to the rest of the field.

Sentry 2025 Odds

Xander Schauffele will begin the 2025 season as the favorite in the first event. Fresh off of winning two majors, Schauffele owns +750 odds to win The Sentry to kick off the year. He last won the tournament in 2019 when he tied a course record by shooting an 11-under 62 on Sunday to beat Gary Woodland by one shot.

Justin Thomas (+1000) and Collin Morikawa (+1400) also find themselves at the top of the odds board in Kapalua, Hawaii. Ludvig Aberg (+1800) and Patrick Cantlay (+1800) round out the top five contenders in Hawaii this week.

Other notable longshots include Hideki Matsuyama (+2500), Corey Conners (+3300), Wyndham Clark (+400), and Will Zalatoris (+7000). Last year’s winner, Chris Kirk, owns +1100 odds to repeat as champion.

Sentry 2025 Expert Picks

For the past 25 years, the PGA Tour season has started in Maui. The Plantation Course is the third-longest course on the Tour this season, measuring 7,600 yards. Experience plays a huge role at the course and a golfer has not won in his debut at the course since 2008. Here are our expert picks to win the 2025 Sentry.

Sungjae Im (+2200)

Few golfers finished the year with the type of consistency displayed by Sungjae Im. Im posted 10 top-15 finishes over his final 14 events last year and he has a history of performing well at the Plantation Course. In four appearances there, he’s finished no worse than 13th with two top-5 finishes during that span. If Im is in top form, he’ll be able to compete for one of the top prizes of the season.

Collin Morikawa (+1400)

Collin Morikawa has a penchant for coming out of the gates hot. He has seven career top-10 finishes in January and has been on the brink of winning this tournament in recent seasons. In five Sentry appearances, Morikawa has finished no worse than seventh and with Scheffler not in the picture, he has an even better chance to start the year off on top of the leaderboard.

Brian Harman (+6000)

Harman finished in the top 5 in last year’s edition of the tournament. Harman is strong around the greens, which has helped him be among the golfers with the lowest average score at Kapalua since 2020.
Sentry 2025 Best Bet: Sungjae Im (+2200)

Im has yet to win The Sentry but has posted strong finishes in four appearances at the event. With Scheffler not in the running this year, there will be a lot of pressure on Morikawa and Schauffele to begin the season with a victory. That could open the door for someone like Im, who has been knocking on the door at this tournament with two top-5 finishes at the Plantation Course. At +2200 odds, there’s a good chance Im will find himself in the running over the weekend.
