Some projects defy the passage of time. And then there is the Sagrada Família. In the heart of Barcelona, Antoni Gaudí's masterpiece has been under construction for more than 140 years. That prospect did not seem to trouble the architect, who was fond of saying, "My client is not in a hurry" — a reference to God.
This year, however, after accidents, delays, a pandemic and countless other setbacks, the basilica could finally fully emerge from its now-familiar scaffolding.
