The Royal family latest in days after the Queen's funeral as new positions taken up

The Royal Family have shared their grief with the commonwealth and people around the world since the death of Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral on September 8.

The Queen was laid to rest on Monday in an intimate ceremony away from cameras, and has been interred together with her late husband, Prince Philip, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Philip, who was Elizabeth’s husband of more than 70 years, died last year at age 99.

Operation London Bridge, which is a set of royal protocols that lays out what happened between her passing and state funeral, came into effect, and national mourning was in place until September 19th, the day of the Queen’s funeral.

The Royal Family will be in an official mourning period until Monday, September 26.

A Buckingham Palace statement read: "It is His Majesty The King’s wish that a period of Royal Mourning be observed from now until seven days after The Queen’s Funeral.

"Royal Mourning will be observed by Members of the Royal Family, Royal Household staff and Representatives of the Royal Household on official duties, together with troops committed to Ceremonial Duties."

The royal’s duties will resume again soon as King Charles, the Queen Consort Camilla and the new Prince and Princess of Wales adjust to life in their new roles.

Here's what the family have been up to in the days since the funeral.

The Royal period of mourning continues for another seven days until September 26th.

It comes after the Queen’s funeral on Monday September 19, and national mourning ended.

During this period, royal engagements and visits -which are part of the Monarchy’s work to support the voluntary and civil sector - have been postponed.

Flags at royal residences are flown at half-mast, and the public can sign the royal family's online book of condolences.

A small portion of working members of the royal family will also carry out engagements in Queen Elizabeth's honour.

Queen Elizabeth's only daughter, Princess Anne, met Royal Navy personnel who took part in the funeral procession for the queen, while the queen's youngest son Edward will visit Estonia and Germany to visit troops over a three day trip.

The Royal Family’s official website, paid tribute to the Queen's reign and her life of service as Head of State, and the Commonwealth.

King Charles flew from London to Aberdeen, Scotland, the day after his mother's funeral.

Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, are thought to be grieving privately while in the Scottish Highlands, Sky News reports.

Speaking on the changes for his family, Charles said: 'This is also a time of change for my family,'

“I count on the loving help of my darling wife Camilla in recognition of her own loyal public service since our marriage 17 years ago. She becomes my Queen Consort. I know she will bring to the demands of her new role, the steadfast devotion to duty on which I have come to rely so much.”

It's all change for the royal family, many of whom have been given new titles.

Since 1958, Prince Charles has been called the Prince of Wales, a title given to the heir to the throne, so this title has passed on to Prince William.

Prince William of Wales, and Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton

Prince William and Kate will take a more central role in the firm succeeding King Charles III and the Queen Consorts former titles.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are in Windsor on Thursday, where they're meeting volunteers and staff who were involved with the committal service for the Queen’s funeral.

William is the new heir to the throne following King Charles II's coronation, and will be known as the Prince of Wales.

He remains as the Duke of Cambridge, also inherits the Duchy of Cornwall, making him the Duke of Cornwall.

Referring to Prince William and Kate Middleton, Charles said: “As my heir, William assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me, he succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall which I have undertaken for more than five decades.”

He added: “With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales I know will continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marshal to the centre ground where vital help can be given.”

Following his grandmother’s funeral, Prince William shared a pre-recorded heartwarming message on Wednesday, September 21st informing the public he had cancelled an upcoming trip to New York, and mentioned he would be making a trip to Boston in December with Kate.

Kate Middleton will keep the Duchess of Cambridge title, and has now taken on the title of the Princess of Wales.

Kate also takes on the Duchess of Cornwall, but like Princess Diana before her, she will primarily go by the Princess of Wales.

The Prince and Princess of Wales' children were known as George Cambridge, Charlotte Cambridge and Louis Cambridge, but this has now changed to Wales to reflect their parents title change.

They will now be known as Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Princess Anne

Anne, Princess Royal, is the Queen's only daughter, and accompanied her mother’s coffin on the six-hour drive from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh.

The 72-year-old princess is not as high profile as some of the other royals, and despite being the queen’s second-born child, she’s now far down the line of succession on the royal family tree.

The title of princess royal has been around since the 1630s and is awarded to the eldest daughter in the royal family.

The Princess Royal resumed her duties despite the ongoing period of royal mourning.

Her first engagement was at Portsmouth Naval Base.

Anne, who is Commodore-in-Chief Portsmouth, met with Royal Navy personnel who took part in the funeral procession on Thursday.

Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex

Prince Edward arrived in Estonia on Wednesday evening, ahead of a meeting with troops based at the Camp Tapa military base.

As the Royal Colonel of 2nd Battalion The Rifles, the Earl of Wessex will thank the military personnel for their continued service under the Queen's reign and their commitment to King Charles III as the new Head of the Armed Forces, the Daily Express reports.

The earl will travel to Paderborn in Germany to visit troops on deployment from the Royal Wessex Yeomanry at the Normandy Barracks on Friday.

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York

Andrew received plenty of attention amid the passing of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

There has reportedly always been a rocky relationship between King Charles and Andrew.

Usually, there is contention and rifts between the first and second in line of succession.

The brothers are also said to have different personalities, values and approaches to life.

Andrew was at the centre of attention surrounding the Queen’s funeral, when he was invited to wear his military uniform during a vigil inside Westminster Hall, but that role ended at the Queen's funeral.

It is proof nothing will change for Andrew now his brother Charles is King.

He remains stripped of his military patronages and use of the HRH title.

Andrew had his fall from grace due his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and his out of court settlement in a civil case brought by Virginia Giuffre.

His spokesperson announced that he and his ex wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, would become keepers of the Queen’s corgis and dorgi.
