The single-story cottage is set in the grounds of a country house with its own spacious private garden. It’s here where you’ll find the cottage’s luxurious hot tub, which is ideal for relaxing in after a day spent exploring the local area.
Inside the cottage is a large open-plan kitchen and living space, complete with a wood-burning stove to make sure you’re cosy on chilly February nights. The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you would need for a short stay.
French doors open up from the living room out onto a shingled-seating area. There’s a light and airy bedroom with a king-sized bed and all the windows feature lovely views of the countryside.
The cottage is perfectly located for exploring the nearby Coniston Mountain Range and there are several walking routes nearby which will take you to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston. Depending on your ability it can take around three to five hours to climb to the top.
Around one and a half miles away from the cottage is the alpine-like village of Coniston. It features white-washed buildings set against the dramatic backdrop of the Coniston Mountain Range. The village features a range of shops, pubs and cafes. It’s also home to John Ruskin’s grave and there’s a museum dedicated to the writer.
A vast expanse of calm water framed by sloping fells, Coniston Water is the third-largest lake in the national park. The best way to experience the beauty of the lake is with a boat ride across it. Fortunately Coniston Launch still operates a service in the winter which stops at various locations along the shore.
If you want to explore even further, the charming village of Hawkshead is around five miles away. Grizedale Forest, which features miles of cycling and walking trails, is approximately seven miles from Coniston.
You can book three nights at Somewhere from Friday, February 10 for £693, or book for three nights from Friday February 17 for £764 on the Holiday Cottages website. Other dates are also available.
