The Rogue Prince of Persia is now out Early Access via Steam. With this, players get to experience a polished though still-evolving version of the 2D roguelite action-platformer. The game features a new Prince and one that has the ability to resurrect himself after each death. It challenges players to do some parkour and fight their way across continually reshuffling levels.
During the period of Early Access, developer Evil Empire revealed that more biomes, as well as other content, are going to be added gradually. At the same time, the studio is also gathering feedback from the players.
A New Prince
The game tells the story of the Prince fighting against a Hun army that's been corrupted by a dark shamanic magic. Players get to explore a rather vibrant reinterpretation of Persia where they put the pieces of the puzzle together and discover new areas as they enter the fight again and again. They also meet a cast of colorful characters through non-linear story progression.
The Iconic Move
Players get to experience platforming and combat where they use their acrobatic moves to outmaneuver and outsmart enemies. For example, they can use the iconic wall-run to open new routes of attack, avoid traps, and even explore those hard to reach areas. It's also possible to kick and dodge to manage the groups of enemies when the odds are against you.
Change the Playstyle
The game allows players to choose from a wide range of deadly weapons and even let them equip new medallions. This allows them the ability to change their fighting style whenever they want. Secondary weapons are also available and offer more options like bows, shields, and all the way to grappling hooks.
In addition to unlocking new weapons and medallions, players can also learn from their mistakes in order to be more powerful with each death. Since each level is procedurally generated, no two runs are the same and there's always new challenges waiting.
