One grieving family was given the ultimate Christmas present - the chance to see a dearly missed deceased family member once more.
Shown on The Repair Shop last night, relatives of a woman called Elizabeth - her two sisters, daughter Vicky and granddaughter - came to visit Jay Blades and the team in the hope that they could get a projector up and running again, which contained precious footage.
It showed a young Elizabeth, then herself only a teenager, celebrating Christmas with her family.
Vicky and her daughter had never seen the film before. "Being able to see mum again, mum moving," she said, overcame with emotion as the soundless clip of her mum as a younger woman began to play.
Tragic Elizabeth's sisters explained that seeing her moving around was "completely different" to looking at the treasured photographs from that day thirty years ago.
People at home were equally choked up, not just by Elizabeth's family's happy ending but as it triggered memories of their own.
One viewer tweeted, "Sitting here watching #therepairshop with a tear in my eye. A daughter getting to see her mum again, was a very special moment. I know I’d do anything to have video footage of my mum - especially her at #Christmas. She loved Christmas and ensured it was a special time for us all."
Another said, "Once again especially on this episode i have literally just cried all through the Repair Shop what an uplifting show this is the outstanding workmanship shown on here each episode is just heartwarming thank you."
