Japhet Tanganga has missed out Tottenham's matchday squad against Roma due to a sickness bug, football.london understands.

The 23-year-old was set to be part of the Spurs squad for the game against Jose Mourinho's side at the Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa, Israel. However, he began feeling unwell on Saturday and has remained at the team hotel in Tel Aviv, with the sickness not believed to be Covid-related.

Tanganga has been linked with a move away from Spurs in recent weeks, with Serie A side AC Milan showing interest in taking the versatile centre-back away from north London on loan. He has played throughout pre-season for Antonio Conte but will now miss the final match ahead of the club's Premier League opener against Southampton on August 6.
