The struggle of a large family travelling abroad was immortalised in the 1990 smash hit movie Home Alone. It appears life is imitating art, as the Radford Family's recent trip - which included them taking up nine rows of seats on plane - was the cause of much mayhem.
The 26-strong family are British celebrities made famous for starring in a 2012 Channel 4 documentary 15 Kids and Counting. Fast forward 11 years and the heads of the family, Noel and Sue, are now parents to 22 children.
The family, who currently reside at a 10-bedroom Victorian property in Morecambe, have been looking for a new home in Lancashire, but have been unsuccessful so far, reports LancsLive. It started when Noel and Sue decided to go house-hunting across the pond.
They flew to America on their epic journey to find a new home and squeeze in a holiday in the process. Mum-of-22 Sue told Noel that they could get much more for their money across the Atlantic and suggested they go to Florida to take a look for themselves.
The adventurous family are keen holiday-makers. They refer to Florida as their 'favourite place'.
The conversation was captured on their Channel 5 TV show 22 Kids and Counting. Noel said: "Tell you something Sue, you're right.
"You seem to get a lot more for your money than what you do here. So, do we just up sticks and move to America?"
Sue replied: "I think we should just go. See what you can get for your money over there compared to what you get for your money over here."
Noel added: "Plus we get a holiday out of it. Any excuse for a holiday, you know me."
The suggestion progressed and the parents were discussing flying to America as a group of 26. Noel said: "If 26 of us go, that will be the biggest trip we've ever done."
Footage shown later in the show saw Noel tell everyone to stay still as he counted them to ensure no one was missing. At first he only counted 25 people, but soon found the missing person.
The family boarded the flight and took up nine rows of seats on the plane. The children were reluctant to sit down at first, but everyone was in their seats for a successful take off.
Responding to a post on the Radford family's Instagram account last night, one fan said: "Who takes their kids to view houses? Poor estate agent. Not coming across in good light now. In the beginning, yes..."
Another said: "I actually found it refreshing to see how things unravelled away from home, as my children are well behaved in controlled environments but act like someone else's kids in other peoples houses. This was the first time I saw you guys get stressed (Noel and the estate agent) and it is totally normal. Kudos for you for trying new things - and not leaving a Kevin behind."
A third said: "Watching now and have absolutely no idea how you cope with the business of your household but find it amazing! That plane journey must have felt long! I took my three children to Cyprus in September and that was long enough for me."
Another joked: "Just watching. You guys need a medal, always so cool."
