Platinum Pageant TV viewers were overcome with emotion after the Queen made a surprise appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
Her Majesty's appearance marked the end of four days of Platinum Jubilee celebrations which have seen street parties across the UK as well as televised spectacles and entertainment from London.
The Pageant featured more than 8,000 performers, with Ed Sheeran closing the event fresh from two nights of gigging in Sunderland with an emotional performance in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. Several members of the Royal Family were in attendance, including Prince Charles, William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Queen was present at Thursday's Trooping of the Colour but was forced to drop out of Friday and Saturday's events due to experiencing "some discomfort". The Palace had not been confirmed whether she would appear at the Pageant.
However, following Ed Sheeran's finale, she took to the balcony alongside the heirs to the throne, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge were also present.
Meanwhile Prince Louis' attendance at today's ceremony comes after he didn't join his family for their trip to Cardiff Castle and at the Platinum Party at the Palace that took place at Buckingham Palace yesterday evening. Earlier this week he thrilled members of the public as he enthusiastically waved from his Trooping the Colour carriage and pulled a series of funny faces on the balcony.
However, the young royal was quick to steal the show again today as he was seen clowning around in the Royal Box with mum Kate and uncle Mike Tindall. Footage of the event broadcast on the BBC showed the young Prince loving the celebrations, laughing with his mum and Mike, MyLondon reports.
