The Pogues’ Shane MacGowan visited by Bruce Springsteen as they share ‘beautiful experience’ amid health woes

Bruce Springsteen paid a visit to ailing fellow musician Shane MacGowan in what The Pogues frontman’s wife described as a “beautiful experience”.

Victoria Clark, who has been married to Irish singer-songwriter MacGowan, 65, since 2018, took to social media to detail the encounter and shared a picture of the two men embracing.

The Fairytale of New York hit-maker has faced a number of health issues in recent years and was hospitalised over Christmas and the New Year with rare brain condition encephalitis.

The life-threatening condition causes the brain to swell and could lead to difficulty with speech and loss of movement, with the singer receiving urgent treatment at the time.

“What an amazing honour and a beautiful experience to get a visit from The Boss!” wrote Clark on Twitter, tagging both Springsteen and MacGowan.

“This made my whole day! There is a whole lot of awesome in this photo! Makes me happy to see it!” wrote one person.

“That is truly an amazing combo,” tweeted another.
