The first of two special The One Shows aired this evening, with the programme being given a radical royal face-lift for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Fans were thrilled with the new look programme which featured footage and photos of Queen Elizabeth II.
Spirits were high both in and out of the studio. The One Show co-presenter Jermaine Jenas, 39, could barely conceal his excitement. Speaking at the Queen Victoria memorial just outside Buckingham Palace, Jenas said: "I'll be bringing you one of the big highlights, the lighting of this principal beacon right here at Buckingham Palace by a member of the Royal Family.
When asked by co-host Ronan Keating about who else will be there, Jenas replied: "I'm very excited about this one Ronan, because I'm going to be joined by the brilliant Gregory Porter. He will give a very special performance just as the beacons are going to be lit."

Jenas went on to give a whistle-stop diary tour covering the events of the Jubilee celebrations. He said: "On Saturday night, at 7:30pm, it's Platinum Party at the Palace. This place is going to be absolutely rocking.
"The stage behind me is set for the stars. There's going to be plenty of them as well.
The introduction to The One Show had been given a royal face-lift, here it is.
"People like Queen, Adam Lambert and George Ezra will be here. Diana Ross is going to be performing live in the UK for the first time in 15 years. It's going to be a really, really special evening."
Other highlights on the show were a giant balloon in the shape of a guardsman, volunteers being honoured as Platinum Champions and presenter Alex Jones, 45, making the official Platinum Jubilee Pudding with a guiding hand from Mary Berry.
Viewers were quick to react on social media. Sonya Franklin tweeted: "I watched the parade from home and I thought the Queen looked gorgeous, her happy smile lights up everywhere #theoneshow."
@jan321321321 tweeted, during the Platinum Champions segment: "Fantastic show tonight and this part brought tears to my eyes."
There were fans of outfits worn by presenters too. Referring to Gyles Brandreth's special Platinum Jubilee themed Corgi jumper, Janice Ferguson tweeted: "@GylesB1 is in the house love his jumper."
Alex Jones's striking red and white outfit went down a storm as well. Karen Hughes tweeted: "Lovely dress Alex is wearing… please tell me where it’s from!"
