The One Show's Jermaine Jenas lands new job after show 'cancelled' by BBC

The One Show host Jermaine Jenas has landed a new job with the BBC after the show has been 'cancelled' for summer. Jermaine, the Nottingham-born ex Newcastle United and Spurs player has been a regular host on the BBC programme for a while now.

On Wednesday evening, he and co-presenter Alex Jones broke the bad news to viewers that neither they or the show would be on screen for a while, as the broadcaster focuses on live sporting action, starting with the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, reports the Chronicle Live.

The hosting duo announced The One Show's 'summer break' right before credits rolled, confirming that it won't be back until August 22. But, Jermaine will be seen on screen before then as, a post on the programme's Twitter page revealed that he already has another presenting gig lined up - fronting Sport Relief All Star Games: Birmingham 2022 Champions alongside Emma Willis, which will start on the BBC on August 8.

In a similar vein to The Games, which was recently rebooted on ITV, an array of famous faces, including Olympian Helen Glover, rugby hero and Strictly contestant Ugo Monye and TV presenter Dermot Murnaghan, will take each on in an array of different events, with three of those confirmed to involve cycling.

The stars will be split into two teams - Team Blue, headed up by swimmer Ellie Simmonds and Team Red, with Dame Kelly Homes at the helm.

Other famous faces confirmed to be taking part include: Mike Bushell (BBC presenter), Liv Cooke (freestyle football world champion), Thom Evans (model and rugby player) and Una Healy (The Saturdays).

They will be joined by TV stars like I'm A Celebrity's Vicky Pattison and Ferne McCann, Strictly star and singer HRVY and ex Love Islanders Kem Cetinay and Ovie Soko.
