Jermaine Jenas received a rather awkward telling off from star guest Gwen Stefani on Monday night's edition of The One Show, as the programme sprung a big surprise on the No Doubt star.
Former Newcastle United and Spurs midfielder Jermaine has been a regular on the BBC early evening show for a number of years now, teaming up to host alongside the likes of Alex Jones, Lauren Laverne and Alex Scott. And it was Alex Jones he teamed up with to host The One Show's first episode of the week, with Gwen, who's getting ready to perform at Warwick Castle this weekend, joining the presenters live in the studio.
As the singer prepares for her first UK concert dates in 16 years, Jermaine and Alex had a surprise up their sleeve, a video message from one of Gwen's major musical influences, Pauline Black, the English singer, actress and author. who was one of the founding members of ska band The Selecter, with Gwen saying she "wouldn't be who she was' if it wasn't for her.

In the short clip, Pauline appeared on screen to thank Gwen for all her support, with her message enough to quickly reduce the What You Waiting For star to tears, as she reacted; "I could cry, zoom in guys this is real tears, wow I’m shaking. I can’t believe that, that is incredible."
Picking up on Gwen's emotional response, Jermaine told her: "I can understand why," but, having her moment, Gwen fired back: "No, you don’t understand anything!" as she waved her finger at him." An awkward laugh then started around the studio as, trying to end the awkwardness, Alex interjected: "You tell him Gwen," before Gwen added: "She was my idol when I was 13."
