Alex Jones has revealed that her son is in hospital having surgery, admitting that it has felt like the "longest morning of [her] life".
The 45-year-old is mum to sons Kit and Teddy and daughter Annie, who she gave birth to in August last year.
Taking to her Instagram Stories today, Alex revealed that she was in hospital as she waited for two-year-old son Kit to return from surgery.
She wrote: "Waiting for my little kit to come back from theatre after a very routine op but feels like the longest morning of my life!"
Alex returned to work on The One Show after maternity leave in January, but returned briefly as a guest beforehand to reveal her daughter's name - but there was a slight hiccup and she had to return the following day to share the news.
"With a name, today was the deadline, because I thought right, we shall just tell everyone what it is," she said at the time, "So we were between two but then we finally decided on one, so we rang Charlie's parents who are in Auckland in New Zealand, and they're in lockdown. They can't be over here, sadly, so rang them last night which is this morning and we didn't get an answer."
She added: "So, I have just spoke to Charlie and he said that he doesn't think we can tell everybody until mum and dad know as the grandparents already cannot be here to meet her, so we are going to have to ring her tonight. The thing is that I am now building it up and it is a very simple, kind of classic name, but I think it is only fair that we tell granny and grandad first."
Alex returned the following night to reveal the baby's name was Annie as she admitted she was "besotted" by the little one.
She wrote on Instagram after the baby's arrival: "We have some news. Our beautiful daughter came safely into the world on Saturday afternoon 21.08.21. Tiny, but perfectly formed we are all beyond happy and besotted by her, especially Ted and Kit.
"Watching them with their brand new little sister is just the best and we can’t believe how lucky we are to have the 3 of them and to be a family of 5. It still doesn’t feel real!!! Thank you to everyone at the Queen Charlotte hospital for all your support again."
