The One Show's Alex Jones shares the weird way she reads books on Between the Covers

Welsh TV presenter Alex Jones has revealed the weird way that she decides to buy a book while on the BBC Two show, Between the Covers. The show is hosted by Sara Cox and Alex appeared alongside Graham Norton, Amanda Abbington and JJ Chalmers when she made her shocking revelation.

Joined by Amanda, Alex admitted she decided if to read or buy a book by reading the last paragraph first. Amanda reads the whole last page before making her decision and the rest of the guests were horrified by this technique.

Alex said: "I thought that was completely normal! There are loads of brilliant books as we know, I get a bit stressed thinking I'm not going to get through them all in this lifetime...I read the back and if I like the last paragraph I'll buy the book."

The One Show host also said she would often forget the ending of the book by the time she was reading the book. JJ said this method was not for him and joked that he was worried to be in a room alone with Alex and Amanda after they admitted their secret.

On Tuesday, November 8 Alex was forced to host The One Show alone without her other her normal co-hosts Ronan Keating, Jermaine Jenas or Ronan Kemp. She explained Jermaine's absence during the show, she said: "It's just me tonight, look, because Jermaine is still busy with our Surprise Squad. They're underway with the first of their epic set of challenges for Children in Need and later, we'll be introducing you to another member of the amazing team."

Before the BBC programme aired, Alex took to Instagram to let viewers and fans know about the shake-up. The 45-year-old posted a video of her in the studio playing Celine Dion's All By Myself with the caption: "Flying solo tonight on @bbctheoneshow".
