Here is The Nottinghamian from Thursday, December 8:
Hello,
Today's edition of the Nottinghamian takes a look as two well known Notts faces, celebrating the city they're from. Vicky McClure is all praise for her hometown as she gets ready to showcase Nottingham on the small screen.
Boxer Carl Froch also took a trip down memory lane whilst opening an expansion of a Colwick business. Plus we take a look inside a new city restaurant and have the best street style of the day.
'City in bloom'
Nottingham actress Vicky McClure has said she wants the people of Nottingham to see the "city in bloom" in her new ITV thriller, Without Sin. The show, which was filmed at locations across the city, will air on December 29 on ITVX.
It tells the story of the relationship which develops between a grieving mother, played by Vicky, and the man she believes murdered her teenage daughter. Without Sin is filled with instantly recognisable Nottingham landmarks such as Victoria Centre Market, Cornerhouse and Langtrys pub.
Vicky said: "This city is equipped to make really high-end television drama which is exactly what I wanted to showcase. I want the people of Nottingham to see their city in bloom on the telly so we've made that happen and I'm really proud of everyone involved." Read more here.
Expansion
Four-time world champion boxer Carl Froch was on hand to open the third phase of a multi-million-pound factory for an award winning, family-run Nottingham packaging company. The Wilkins Group, which helped Marks and Spencer's snow globe gin become its fastest-selling drink last year, unveiled its new 50,000 square foot extension on Colwick Industrial Estate.
The event was an extra special one for Froch, who grew up on a cul-de-sac where his garden fence stood next to the factory. Froch recalls a time - around 43 years ago - when he and his siblings would jump into the factory's paper skips and "try and bury themselves under the paper".
With so many connections to the company, Froch was the "obvious" choice to open the new extension, with Carl's own "uncle Mick" having worked at the firm for 46 years. The Wilkins Group director Justin Wilkins said: "It's a great day to bring everybody together, just take a bit of time out and just celebrate a big achievement to increase the capacity of the business."

Street style
Brothers Alex and Will Sabey, from Derby, showed off their punk and 60s-inspired style between their music classes. They both describe their style as "post-punk, 60s and retro". Alex takes his inspiration from 70s punk bands and as well as 60s groups. The brothers say bands like The Ramones, The Beatles and The Kinks all have an influence on them.
Twenty-four-year-old Will's piece of style advice is: "Do not fear what anyone thinks". Alex, 26, added: "It is not just what you wear, it is how you wear it." They get their clothes from a range of places. Alex said: "I usually have an idea in my head, then find it".

New opening
As we experience the very worst of the weather, it's perfect timing that Rosa's Thai restaurant has opened its doors on King Street, Nottingham. The new restaurant combines classic Thai dishes with street-smart side snacks and of course, the hugely popular bubble tea.
The team has given the former Loch Fyne restaurant, which closed during Covid, a completely new lease of life with red and white tiles that make the space feel warm and inviting. Rosa's has grown from humble beginnings as a street stall in Brick Lane, London, bringing the east to the East End. Nottingham is the latest in an expansion plan.
The menu combines classic dishes such as pad Thai and Panang curry along with modern twists and a few mouthwatering surprises. This includes the new addition of a fragrant red duck pineapple curry which features slow-cooked duck breast smothered in Rosa's signature curry sauce along with basil, pineapple and fresh chillis.
For spicy food fans looking for a strong winter warmer, or anyone who likes a challenge, there is a hot green curry which is one of their best sellers. Read more and take a look inside the new restaurant here.
