Today's edition of the Nottinghamian takes a look at how Nottingham feels after the cancellation of the annual Bonfire Night celebrations at the Forest Recreation Ground.

"Gutted"
Nottinghamshire Live readers have voiced their sadness after it was announced this year's Nottingham Bonfire Night event has been cancelled. Nottingham City Council said the annual bonfire night and firework display at the Forest Recreation Ground is off due to budget pressures.
The decision was met with frustration, with one reader saying that they were "gutted" by the decision. Taking to Facebook, one reader wrote: "So gutted my eldest loves the fireworks and bonfire and it's always been such a great atmosphere." Another said: "That's dreadful."
Others are concerned about the dangers of people hosting their own firework displays. One reader posted: "Cue more idiots buying and setting off fireworks, putting people and animals in harm's way." Another wrote: "But we had 10 days of Goose Fair..." However, not all is lost for those seeking to celebrate Bonfire Night. Apology accepted
A woman is "chuffed" after three boys who stole her trees from her garden came back to apologise. A resident of the Broxtowe Estate was disappointed to find her freshly planted conifers missing at around around 5.36pm on Monday (October 17).
CCTV footage has shown a group of three boys uprooting her three conifers from her garden, then walking off from the property located just off Coleby Road. Having voiced her anger at the stolen plants to Nottinghamshire Live, she had an unexpected visit from the group and their dad.
They apologised and re-planted the conifers. The resident said: "The dad was shocked, he did not know anything about it. I thanked the boys for making the right choice and for being brave enough to come back and plant the trees." She added: "I think it is brilliant - it is just amazing. I am very happy with their apology and I hope that they learned their lesson."

With major U-turns and changes to the economic plan, the Prime Minister fights for her position to remain in power. In the midst of UK turmoil, we asked the people of Nottingham: "Will Liz Truss recover from this week?"
Stephan Moore, 76, from Sneinton, said: "No, she has to go. There has been way too many changes. It just comes across like she doesn't know what she is doing so how can we have someone like that as PM."
Charlie Brooks, 34, from Wollaton, added: "I would be very surprised if she did. We didn't vote for her and now we are suffering the consequences of all her decisions. She needs to make her mind up."
Annie Leaver, 47, from Woodthorpe, said: "Surely not. But then again look at what Boris Johnson managed to get away with for so long. Stranger things have happened in politics."
Late night shopping
Late night shopping will return to the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet East Midlands from Thursday, October 27, with bargain hunters able to get a further 20% off already discounted prices. As well as the discounts, specific brand goodie bags will be handed out to some customers by the guest services team.
Band 'King Brasstards' will be entertaining guests in musical bursts throughout the day from midday up until 8pm. The site has a number of well-known brands like including Tommy Hilfiger, M&S, and BOSS. Three retailers, Lacoste, Luke 1977 and Claire’s Accessories, will be offering an extra 30% off at the event, which will start at 9am and run all the way through to 9pm.
Paul Sutton, centre manager at East Midlands Designer Outlet, said the outlet gives customers the chance to "shop for high-quality, premium brands at great prices". He added: “Thursday’s late-night shopping exemplifies this promise by offering shoppers a wide range of deals from a variety of our well-loved brands that will help our guests find the perfect gifts for their loved ones.”
