The head of a public policy think tank who used to be the business lobby's chief economist has been unveiled as the newest member of the influential nine-member board responsible for setting interest rates in Australia.
Melinda Cilento, chief executive of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia, was appointed to the Reserve Bank's monetary policy board by Treasurer Jim Chalmers on Friday.
