It’s only been a little over two years since Volkswagen dipped its toes into the electric hot hatch segment with the ID.3 GTX. Well, that car is already dead, but for a good reason. With the supermini’s recent mid-cycle refresh, Wolfsburg is rebranding the spicy version as the ID.3 GTI. At the same time, it’s not the first EV to carry the famous suffix, since that role belongs to the smaller ID. Polo GTI. Nevertheless, it still has two headline-grabbing traits.
