The automotive world has a serious case of SUV fever. Everything is getting bigger, heavier, and taller, and automakers are increasingly convinced customers want another oversized crossover rather than a genuinely small car. That's what makes the new Smart #2 such a breath of fresh air. Premiering today at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the electric two-seater revives the spirit of the original Smart in a world that could use fewer behemoths on its streets.
Thirty years after Smart introduced its original two-seater concept in Paris, the brand is returning to its roots. The Smart #2 measures just 2,746 millimeters (108.1 inches) long, making it a tiny electric runabout designed for crowded city streets rather than sprawling parking spaces. The fancy Couture Edition stretches that figure to 2,764 mm (108.8 inches), but it's still shorter than many modern cars are wide.
