There is a growing feeling among Newcastle United fans that Elliot Anderson should be given a chance to prove his worth in Eddie Howe's side. The clamour began during his loan stint at Bristol Rovers and has only grown louder after the player's impressive pre-season and Newcastle's struggles in the transfer market.
The Magpies' summer friendly with Atalanta saw Anderson run the show under the St. James' Park lights. He held his own against the likes of Benfica and Mainz 05 too.
Of course, it's tricky to judge a player in games that are essentially glorified training sessions but with Newcastle looking toothless at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, Anderson may have been able to offer something different going forward.
