Meta has just dropped its Llama 3.3 70B model, providing further proof that open models continue to close the gap with proprietary rivals.

It’s only been released in a 70B parameter version but its benchmark performance puts it not far off the older Llama 3.1 405B, and it even ranks above OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Google’s Gemini Pro 1.5 in some ratings.
