The most popular beauty treatments in Nottinghamshire currently that people can't get enough of

Lash lifts, brow lamination, BIAB and SNS Dipping powder are among some of the beauty treatments that Nottinghamshire can’t get enough of.

For most, having a pamper and a beauty treatment is what leaves you feeling most confident and good about yourself. From filler to lashes and eyebrows, manicures and pedicures, trends across the beauty industry are constantly changing.

According to beauty salons across Nottinghamshire, ‘natural enhancements’ and ‘healthier options’ is what Nottingham are loving at the moment.

“It’s all supernatural at the minute, everyone is wanting natural enhancements,” said award winning makeup artist and brow specialist, Bonnie Sharpe.

Bonnie, owner of Bonnie’s Beauty Temple in Giltbrook, says the brow lamination and lash lift are currently popular amongst her clientele.

She continued: “That’s from my personal perspective and the clientele that I’ve got. It’s all very much that and what people are wanting instead of going for the permanent makeup there opting for a nice lamination on their brows with a hybrid tint because it wears off.

“They can have it done as and when they want to as opposed to having something permanent on their face that they can’t take off. Lash lifts are becoming way more popular than extensions for me, again natural enhancements.

"The trends have completely changed with beauty in the last year or so and everyone is heading down the ‘natural enhance what you have already’ got route.

“The same with makeup, the cut creases and bit halo eye and the P Louise look seems to have fallen by the wayside. It’s paved the way for a really, almost every bride that I had in for trials this year are opting for a natural look. Your face is better, that’s what people are opting for.

“Enhancing what you’ve already got, using what you’ve already got to make natural enhancements, like I say your face but better instead of making complete changes that makes you look like a totally different person. Huge eyelash extensions, semi permanent brows, heavy makeup, it’s all changed completely.”

Danni Mott is the owner of House of You in Lenton, she spoke on what is in demand for her customers. Danni said: “For us, I’d say eyelashes and nails. The individual eyelashes, so it’s the process of sticking on synthetic or mink eyelashes. We use all synthetic here, one by one to each eyelash.

"Depending on the look they’re after, if they want something that's more natural go for a more classic look. This basically adds a bit of extension to your natural eyelash. There’s the different lashes which are a little bit thicker and that’s where we use fans. These can be handmade or pre-made, we use all handmade here.

"That’s to give you a bit more thickness, it’s not stuck on one by one, it's a little bit thick because it gives you that false lash look if you were to stick one on. Depending on the style you want you can be more natural, thicker.

BIAB is a more healither option for your nails (Danni Mott)

“I think for nails it would be BIAB, it’s called builder in a bottle. That’s something that's a more natural option than acrylics. It’s something that they put on, really thick couple layers and just means it’s healthier for your nails as well. If you snap an acrylic and it really hurts because it actually breaks your real nail as well.

"Where as, when you have BIAB, I caught my nail in the door the other day and it broke the BIAB but my natural nail was fine underneath. It kind of builds up that tolerance and that thickness back to your naturals and get them healthier again."

Nicola Barker-Lane is the owner of a Long Eaton based salon NicolaMarieStudios. She highlighted how her clients are wanting more semi-permanent makeup such as a lip blush or ombre brows.

She explained that semi permanent makeup artistry involves a type of tattooing that depends on several factors that usually lasts one to two years. A patch test is taken before, then when time for the treatment the facial features such as lips or brows would be mapped out and made symmetrical.

She said: “ Apart from your generic treatments and generic makeup artistry like weddings and things which are popular, I have actually found that lip blushing has become massively popular for me.

“I’ve found that I’m doing more consultations, and semi-permanent make up is quite popular for me anyway. It’s definitely one of my highest selling treatments, I am finding that people these days are wanting something where they can just get up and go.

“I do older ladies and women in their thirties that I am finding with children, have busy lives, office jobs and want to go to the gym sometimes with a little bit on their face. I’m finding that semi permanent make up, lips, ombre brows and things is definitely my number one selling treatment.

“Even with my lashes, I am finding people are wanting a lot more classic lashes. More of the mascara looks rather than the volume, russian lashes. I definitely don't do them near as much as I used to. I am finding it even with semi permanent people who are wanting more neutral colours, not wanting big bright colours, something more natural. Basically just enhance their own beauty, give them sort of an edge where they can just get up, wash their face and off they go to work without having to worry about a full face of makeup.”

At Studio Eight in Nottingham City Centre, BIAB is one of the most in demand by customers, they said people are going for the ‘healthier options’ which they believe will benefit a lot of people.

A gel manicure is a popular treatment at Studio Eight (Studio Eight)

Stephanie Dao, general Manager, said: “Here at the salon we offer a service called BIAB Nails also known as 'Builder Gel'. Builder gel, unlike typical gel, offers a strong base for natural nails, allowing the natural nail to grow underneath. We recommend this service to people who struggle with nail biting, clients new to nails, or anyone who prefers a slimmer and shorter nail.

“BIAB is a very versatile treatment, as we can do any design on BIAB or a completely natural and professional look as well. BIAB is definitely a better alternative to acrylic as it provides increased strength without compromising the natural nail.”

As well as this, SNS is popular too, Stephanie continued: “SNS is a personal favourite of mine, as a nail technician we are always filing and the SNS Dipping powder never chips off, while keeping the natural nail healthy and strong. I always recommend this to clients who have their hands in water a lot or have oily nail beds as it looks and lasts like acrylic but is nourishing the natural nail underneath.

“We found that not many salons in Nottingham offer nail products which are healthy to the natural nail. We have introduced many new clients to SNS and Biab to help start their journey to better natural nails.”
