The UK’s most Instagrammable restaurants have been revealed - with two Manchester spots making it into the top ten. A new study conducted by Dojo revealed that while the most Instagrammed restaurants can be found in the capital, the North is well represented, with establishments in Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool making the cut.
London’s Sicilian-inspired Circolo Popolare has been ranked as the most Instagrammable spot in the UK with over 211,000 searches per month on the social media platform. The venue is adorned with foliage hanging across the ceilings, and the light from streams of fairy lights can often be spotted in visitors' Instagram snaps.
In second place, Sketch in London with 173,000 searches per month, which comes as little surprise following its renovation earlier this year. The baby pink marshmallow interior which it was famous for has been overhauled and replaced with a sunshine yellow scheme and 14 piece artwork installation.
The third spot went to London eatery 14 Hills, while fourth and fifth place went to Eden in Portsmouth and London in Sky respectively. Following closely behind were two Manchester hotspots, which have amassed quite the following since opening in the city.
Spinningfields’ institution Australasia has nabbed the sixth spot, followed closely by newcomer 20 Stories. Both have become huge successes in the city, in part because of the ‘Instagrammable’ décor but also their food and drink offerings.
An exclusive nightspot with Manchester’s celeb crowd, Australasia has been offering diners a taste of Down Under since it opened in 2011. Although it doesn’t boast the sunnier climate of Australia, the food has often been praised and it has become a hit with celebrities including Michelle Keegan and Catherine Tyldesley, to name a few.
Accessed by a Louvre-style glass pyramid just over from John Rylands Library, the basement bar and pan-cuisine restaurant uses a mixture of faux white washed beams, vanilla-coloured flooring and beach-style booths to give it a relaxed, and bright feel. Its menus draw influences from the Pacific Rim with a focus on Australia's strong links with Japan and Southeast Asia.
It’s followed closely behind by 20 Stories - the restaurant with one of the best views of Manchester. Perched on the 19th floor of No.1 Spinningfields, 20 Stories opened in 2018, offering high-end food paired with stunning panoramic views of the city.
Split into three distinct areas, it features a fine-dining restaurant, an informal grill and an outdoor terrace - the latter of which is turned into seasonal pop-ups. Featuring an impressive marble-topped bar, cosy booth seating and tables overlooking the city, it is little wonder why it has been so popular on social media.
Earlier this year, it was named one of the best rooftop bars in the world - beating out venues in Melbourne, Istanbul and Houston. The Manchester venue was the highest ranking rooftop bar in the UK overall, with London’s Madison and Roof East ranking at 12th and 14th place respectively.
